It happened again! We made our way to Summers Farm for the second year in a row and we had a BLAST! My 12 year old son loved the farm last year, so I knew our 2 youngest sons would definitely get a kick out of it! I kept telling them I was going to take them to the BEST. PUMPKIN PATCH. EVER! And I definitely delivered on that.
As soon as we got to the farm, the boys were smiling from ear-to-ear. They couldn’t wait to get started with the activities. The first activity they ventured to was the jumping pillow. If the boys had it their way, they would have stayed at that one activity the entire time! They had a blast jumping up and down on the big orange pillow-shaped trampoline. They did all sorts of poses and flips. At one point they had my husband throw them onto the pillow as they made super hero poses, to make it seem as if they were flying. It was great!
From the jumping pillow we watched the pig races. They raced every size pig, from small little piglets to big potbelly pigs. It was exciting to watch. Next on the list was the zipline, appropriately called “Flying Pigs”, considering we had just come from the pig races. The boys got on the zipline over and over and over again. It was so much fun for them; they couldn’t get enough! We had to pull them from the attraction so we could head to the corn maze and explore the rest of what the farm had to offer.
Once we wrangled them from the Flying Pigs attraction, we made our way through the corn maze (I was able to zip right through this because I have a great sense of direction), rode the pumpkin train, dived into the pool of kernels, slid down the tunnel slides, fed the goats and cows and finally headed to the apple blasters-my favorite part of the farm! Out of everything we did, I’m pretty sure the apple blasters was also my husbands favorite activity lol. The apple blaster is exactly what it sounds like; you load this huge cannon with one apple at a time and launch it towards a target. The cannons make a loud BOOMING sound, which our youngest son wasn’t too fond of, but it’s exciting to see just how far the apple shoots.
After two and a half hours of excitement, we were finally able to pick out our pumpkins and grab some apple cider, caramel apples and apple cider donuts to go. All-in-all, the day was so much fun and I was delighted to see the joy in our boys eyes. They did not hesitate in letting us know that they wanted to do it all over again next year. I think we have finally found a tradition we can share with the family every year from here on out!
